Candidates: Getting Certified

The Canadian Mining Certification Program (CMCP) is the measure of mining expertise. It is the industry-standard for validating your skills, knowledge, and experience in the mining sector.

Who Can Get Certified?

Certification is available for workers who meet the minimum requirements in the following mining occupations:

  • Underground Miner
  • Surface Miner
  • Minerals Processing Operator
  • Diamond Driller
  • Frontline Supervisor
  • Industry Trainer
  • Hoist Operator

What Are The Levels Of Certification:

Level 1: Confirms fundamental training required and a minimum number of hours on the job, demonstrating the ability to apply skills and knowledge in the workplace.

Level 2: In addition to level one requirements, level two confirms additional hours and specialized skills and knowledge to efficiently perform a specific occupation without supervision have been acquired.

What Is Involved?

  • Gathering documentation and training records
  • Validating skills, knowledge, and experience
  • Completing forms/documentation

How Do You Become Certified?

There are two methods to obtain your certification; Workplace assessor method or examiner panel method. Choose the one that works for you.

  1.  Contact your HR department to find out if your site is implementing the Canadian Mining Certification Program. Sites who are implementing the CMCP will have trained Workplace Assessors on site to assess your skills, knowledge and experience.

  2. Contact MiHR to initiate your application package, which will be assessed remotely by an Examiner Panel of three subject matter experts.
